Week 1 of 52 Indie Game Dev Fervent

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been making steady progress on my game, Fervent, which I’m developing in Unreal Engine. Feeling confident about where things stand, I’ve set myself a 52-week timeline—yes, one year—to complete the project. Currently, I’m deep into the Prototype and Preproduction phases, carefully building the foundation for what’s to come.

Lately, much of my focus has been on level design. I’m working to craft environments that aren’t just visually stunning but also align seamlessly with the game’s narrative and mechanics. Experimenting with layouts, resolutions, and lighting has been key to creating immersive spaces that draw players into the world of Fervent. My goal is to design levels that not only look captivating but also enhance the overall gameplay experience.

Simultaneously, I’ve been shaping the visual identity of the main character. Designing the protagonist has been both a creative and technical challenge, as I aim to balance uniqueness, memorability, and a tone that fits the game’s theme. From testing costume designs and color palettes to refining the character’s silhouette, I’m working to create a hero who resonates with players and feels integral to the story.

While there’s still a long journey ahead, these early stages are setting a strong foundation for the world and story I hope to bring to life in Fervent.
